Don't Let Your Planner Be Just a Pretty Face: The Importance of Using It Effectively
You see, a planner is meant to be a tool for planning your day and keeping track of important information. It's supposed to help us prioritize our tasks and remind us of things we might otherwise forget. But how often do we actually use our planners for these purposes?
For me, all appointments and events that have a specific time go on the monthly page. This is the most important section for me, as it gives me a clear overview of what's coming up. I may or may not write them on the weekly page, depending on how busy my schedule is. But regardless, the monthly page is always a must.
Prioritizing Purpose Over Aesthetics
As for the daily page, I can't live without it. This is where I list all the tasks and appointments for the day, even the ones that don't necessarily require a reminder. Yes, that means things like showering or putting on makeup for an event later in the day. I look over the tasks and prioritize them, using the Franklin planner method. This involves categorizing tasks as things I must do, things I should do, and things I could do. It's important to start with the things I must do, so that I can ensure I don't forget any critical tasks.
But it's not just about appointments and tasks. I also use my planner to jot down important information, like phone numbers, addresses, and ideas. It helps me keep track of everything in one place and reduces the risk of forgetting something important.

Power of Purposeful Planning
So, while I love decorating my planner with all the pretty stickers and pens, I always try to remember its true purpose. It's there to help me plan my day and keep my life organized. And by using it effectively, I can reduce my stress levels, increase my productivity, and ensure that my day runs smoother.
So, a planner is an essential tool for staying organized and on track. We shouldn't get caught up in the aesthetics and remember its true purpose. By using it to plan our days, keep track of important information, and prioritize our tasks, we can ensure that our lives run smoother and with more purpose.

Closing thought: I fully recognize that some individuals may use their planner in a more artistic and creative manner, not really focusing on the planning aspect, perhaps treating it as a form of self-expression or even scrapbooking.
